Seed data in the corpus. 5,211 of 5,213 respondents (99.9%) are generated, not people, and they are counted in every figure on this site — the map, the nation atlas, the blocs and the phenotype shares alike. Figures here are therefore not yet a measurement of any population. Real answers are being collected alongside them and this notice shrinks as they arrive. How the seed was built →

The four axes

Left and right was built for one continent's twentieth century. These four separate the things it fused — and zero is the world, by construction. Every score reads as a distance from the global centre of gravity, which moves as the data does.

How it stays honest

Both sides get written properly

Every question offers two statements, not one claim to nod along with. Both are written to be endorsable by a reasonable person, and which appears first is randomised per respondent. If you can't read side A and hear someone you know, side A is badly written.

Nobody's sample is representative

A self-selected web poll skews young, online and male. So results are raked to each nation's population on age, gender and education, and countries are post-stratified by adult population. Every figure carries an effective sample size and a margin of error.

The centre moves

Each item's midpoint is recomputed from the world's actual answers. You can shift position without changing a single view, because the world moved around you. That gets shown, not hidden.

The axes get audited by the data

Alongside the four designed axes, respondents are clustered in raw answer space with no assumptions at all. Where those blocs cut across the axes, the blocs are what's true. See the blocs →
