Terms
Plain terms for using DataRadio and for membership.
Using the site
- Anonymous polling is free and is not time-limited or feature-limited.
- Answer honestly and once. Submitting deliberately false answers at volume, or automating submissions to move a national figure, corrupts a public good and will be blocked.
- Results are published under the reporting thresholds described in the methodology. We do not publish a national figure before it is meaningful, even when asked.
Membership — $0.99/month
- Billed monthly, cancel any time. Cancelling keeps your access until the end of the period you already paid for.
- Membership buys access, not influence. A member's answers are weighted exactly like everyone else's, and no published figure is computed differently for people who pay. If that ever changed, the site would be worthless.
- If a figure you paid to see turns out to be wrong, we correct it publicly rather than quietly.
- Refunds: ask within 30 days and you get one, without an argument.
What the data is and isn't
DataRadio reports opinion measured from self-selected respondents, weighted to national populations where a benchmark exists and clearly labelled where one doesn't. It is not a probability sample, it is not causal, and it says nothing reliable about people who won't answer political questions online. The methodology page states the limits in more detail than most publishers would, on purpose.
Cite it as a weighted opinion poll with the stated margin of error. Don't cite it as an election forecast; it isn't one.
Content and conduct
Accounts used to attack the service, to attempt to identify individual respondents, or to scrape the site at volume may be closed without refund of the current period. Everything else is fine.
Liability
The service is provided as-is. We work hard on accuracy and state our uncertainty openly, but we are not liable for decisions taken on the basis of published figures. Nothing here limits rights you have under applicable consumer law.
